Literacy Cliff

As students move up through the education system, literacy tasks are unfortunately inversely correlated with literacy supports. That is, as literacy tasks become more complex, literacy supports generally become less explicit and less available to students. It’s a ubiquitous but avoidable imbalance in America, and schools are in a position to help build bridges to prevent students (grades four and up) from falling off the ‘literacy cliff.’
